Dashboard Templates

Dashboard templates let you save your widget arrangement and quickly switch between different layouts. This is useful if you need different views for different tasks -- for example, a "Daily Operations" layout focused on tasks and follow-ups, and a "Board Reporting" layout emphasizing charts and trends.

Accessing Templates

The template selector is located in the Dashboard header, to the right of the customize button. It displays the name of the currently active template (or "Templates" if using the default layout).

Saving a Template

To save your current dashboard layout as a template:

  1. Arrange your dashboard widgets as desired (show/hide, resize, reorder).
  2. Click the template selector button in the header.
  3. From the dropdown, click Save current as template.
  4. In the modal that appears, enter a name for your template (e.g., "Daily Operations").
  5. Optionally add a description explaining the template's purpose.
  6. Click Save Template.

Your current widget arrangement, including sizes, visibility, order, transparency, and title settings, is saved as a named template.

Switching Between Templates

  1. Click the template selector button.
  2. The dropdown shows all available templates. The currently active one has a checkmark.
  3. Click a different template name to switch to it.
  4. Confirm the switch when prompted.
  5. The dashboard immediately reconfigures to match the selected template.

To return to the default layout:

  1. Click the template selector.
  2. Click Default Dashboard at the top of the list.
  3. Confirm the switch.

Setting a Default Template

You can mark one template as your default. When set, this template loads automatically when you visit the Dashboard.

  1. Open the template selector dropdown.
  2. Hover over a template name to reveal the star icon.
  3. Click the star icon next to the template you want to set as default.
  4. The star fills in, indicating it is now your default template.

Only one template can be the default at a time. Setting a new default automatically unsets the previous one.

Updating a Template

If you modify your dashboard while a template is active and want to save the changes back to that template:

  1. Open the template selector dropdown.
  2. Click Update [template name] (blue text at the bottom of the dropdown).
  3. The template is updated with your current layout.

Deleting a Template

  1. Open the template selector dropdown.
  2. Hover over the template you want to delete to reveal the trash icon.
  3. Click the trash icon.
  4. Confirm the deletion when prompted.
  5. The template is removed.

WARNING

You cannot delete a template that is currently set as the default. To delete it, first set a different template as the default, or remove the default designation.

Resetting All Templates

To remove all custom templates and return to a clean state:

  1. Open the template selector dropdown.
  2. Click Reset to defaults at the bottom of the dropdown.
  3. Confirm the reset when prompted.
  4. All user-created templates are deleted, and the dashboard returns to the built-in default layout.

WARNING

This action permanently deletes all your saved templates and cannot be undone.

Template Scope

  • Templates are saved per-user and per-school. Other team members do not see your templates.
  • The default template is also per-user -- each team member can have their own default.
  • Template data is stored server-side, so it persists across browsers and devices.
