Template Variables Reference
Placeholder variables let you personalize email templates with dynamic data. When an email is sent, each {{variable}} is replaced with the actual value from the lead, school, or form record. This reference lists every available variable organized by category.
How Variables Work
- Variables use double curly brace syntax:
{{variable_name}}. - They can be inserted into both the Subject line and the Body of an email template.
- If a variable has no value for a particular lead, it resolves to an empty string.
- Variables are shared between email templates and workflow action templates.

Usage Tips
TIP
Combine variables for natural phrasing. For example:
- Subject:
Welcome to{{school_name}},{{first_name}}! - Body:
Dear{{parent1_first_name}}, thank you for enrolling{{student_first_name}}in our{{program_name}}program.
WARNING
Test before sending. Always use the Send Test feature to verify that variables resolve correctly for a real lead. Missing data fields will result in blank spaces in the rendered email.

In the template editor, variables are color-coded by category for easy identification:
- Blue -- Lead / Applicant variables
- Pink -- Parent 1 / Parent 2 variables
- Purple -- School variables
- Amber -- Pipeline / Stage and Form variables
- Teal -- Academic variables
- Gray -- Date & Time variables
